OC-IAEDP: Healing Beyond Repair

This presentation will invite attendees to rethink and reimagine what healing and recovery from binge eating disorder can look like across genders, identities and cultures. The conversation will include an overview of traditional treatment for binge eating disorder and highlight the ways treatment can miss the nuances of binge care.  Attendees will discuss the role of trauma-informed, patient-centered nutrition and consider the power of a strengths-based lens when discussing the wisdom of binge eating as a multifunctional form of coping.

Objectives: 

• Attendees will be able to identify three limitations of current dietetic practices within eating disorder treatment
• Attendees will be able to identify the limitations of the current diagnostic criteria for Binge Eating Disorder
• Participants will increase their understanding of various approaches and interventions for Binge Eating Disorders
