About the Event

Eating disorder providers at all levels of care struggle to understand their role in providing

gender affirmative care to transgender, non-binary, and gender questioning clients. A lack of clinician training, experience, and supervision results in gatekeeping, misdiagnosis, and poor clinical outcomes for transgender and non-binary patients. This session will discuss prevalent barriers to successful treatment outcomes for gender diverse populations including gender inclusive policy, working with gender dysphoria, and common “clinical concerns” that result in system-wide gatekeeping. Presenter will review several eating disorder case studies from all levels of care to explore clinician gaps in training and experience.
